Who We Are?

Our Mission

To bring the colourful word of drumming and music to all.

Simon started playing drums at the age of 11, he asked his Dad for a drum kit, the replay was “show me what you can do with these pots, pans and old paint tubs and we’ll see.” and promptly lashed out on a £5 pair of drumsticks. Within a few months it became evident that Simon had rhythm and was out to prove to his Dad and Mum that drumming was not just a five minute wonder! Simon had his first lesson with Paul Francis at the Orchard Percussion Studio. That was followed by visit to Sound Attack and met Pete Lewis and his team for the first time. They were of course looking to buy a drum kit, only a few hours later Simon had his first starter drum kit. This was just the beginning. Sound proofing of the cella ensued.

Encouraged by his parents Simon started to learn his grades through the Trinity College London, attaining grade 7….only grade 8 still to complete!
Simon has played in many bands, appearing at venues across Essex
and on the BBC and local radio. Influenced by an eclectic mix of music across the years from Jimi Hendrix, Steve Wonder,Free,Swing and Jazz to name just a few.

Extraordinary Experiences

There are several great reasons for both adults and children to learn drums. So if you’re on the fence about signing up for drum lessons take a look at what the research says. Here, Simon shares just some of the benefits of learning drums… drums can relieve frustration, disappointment, and stress Whether you’re behind a drum kit, hitting a djembe in a drum circle, or beating a marching band bass drum, drumming is a stress reliever. Playing drums, even for just a few minutes, can boost your mood.

Similar to a “runner’s high,” drummers’ brains release feel-good endorphins immediately after playing music. In the online journal Evolutionary Pychology, researchers concluded, “it is the active performance of music that generates the endorphin high, not the music itself.

Our Core Values

Learning to drum  can help reduce stress and make you feel good.
